Take an hour long
unaccompanied ride at your own pace along our wide, sandy, easy-to-follow

old slate quarry, or meander through the forests. Whether you want a fast,

At Stirrup Glen we
understand that in order to make the horseriding experience as enjoyable
as possible for both horse and rider, matching people to horses in both
level of riding expertise and temperament is very important. With over 30
years' experience in this, Stirrup Glen staff and management are skilled
at rapidly choosing a horse that you will click with. Browse through our
gallery to see the horses you'll be
riding. | ||||

So to make it easy for you:
You can ride whenever you like on a weekend or public holiday - you don't
need to book, just pitch - you ride on your own and you take pot luck with
whatever horses are available when you get there.
|
| ||||
|
If you'd like to join the
regular riders for a Social Sunday ride, it is still R80, they will book
the horse you want (or type of horse you want) for you and they will ride
with you and show you around. However, you MUST then BOOK:

Stirrup Glen's camp, Impangele, is sited on the farm's high ground offering it's own spectacular view of the farm and surrounding areas. Running water on tap, flushing toilets, showers, and rustic well maintained thatch overhead. Hot water is available at camp, care of a "donkey" (made of a 200l drum with a great big fire beneath it) The horses and tack are well cared for by the farm staff in overnight mini paddocks close to the camp where they have extra hay and fresh water after a reasonably long ride. They also take care of tacking up the horses in the morning for the riders' convenience. This camp is characterised by two separate cabins with the toilets and showers a little off to the side. The cabins each sleep eight people with ease (you don't even have to know each other that well!) and come equipped with single-bed width foam mattresses that get laid out over the concrete floor when it's time for bed. The lapa overlooking the scrubland, Koos Claassen Highway, hay fields, over Mondeor, Alberton and all the way up to Ponte in Hillbrow is the real attraction of this camp. It is far enough removed from the cabins that those who want to turn in for a well deserved and peaceful rest can do so while those drawn to the late night atmosphere and braai embers can stay up and thoroughly enjoy themselves. Many a late night party has been had under this lapa, to be followed by many a complaint about the brightness of the sun the following morning. you MUST then BOOK: bookings@stirrupglen.co.za
